# Phone notifications

> Which notices guito sends to your iPhone, when they arrive, and how to turn them on or off.

In the iPhone app, guito can notify you on the phone itself when a bank connection needs you. Phone notifications go along with the [emails](/en/account/email-notifications): in **Profile -> Settings -> Notifications**, each topic has a **Phone** switch, separate from its **Email** switch. On the website, the same switches are in **Settings**, on the **General** tab, under **Notifications**, in the **Phone** column. The phone switches apply to your account, so they cover every phone signed in to it. Phone notifications are not available on Android yet.

## Turn on notifications

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open notifications">
    In the mobile app, open **Profile -> Settings -> Notifications**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Allow notifications">
    At the top of the screen, tap **Turn on notifications** and allow them when your phone asks. Your phone asks only once.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You can also turn them on right after connecting or renewing a bank: the **Connection complete** (or **Connection renewed**) screen shows the row **Alert me before the connection expires**. Tap **Turn on** and allow notifications when your phone asks. The row only appears while your phone has not asked you yet and you have not turned off the expiring connection alert.

If you declined, the screen shows **Notifications are off**. Tap that row to open your phone's settings and allow guito's notifications.

## Which notices you receive

All of them are on by default. Tapping a bank notice opens the connection in the app, where you can renew it.

| Notice | When it arrives |
| - | - |
| **Expiring bank connections** | A week before a bank's authorisation expires, and on the day, in the morning. If the authorisation of several banks expires on the same day, you get a single notice. When the notice reaches your phone, you don't also get that day's email; if the authorisation expires without being renewed, the later emails arrive as before. |
| **Bank to reconnect** | When a bank stops syncing and asks for a new authorisation. You get one notice when that happens, not one for every sync that fails. |
| **Investment history ready** | When the first import from a brokerage finishes and you haven't looked at guito in the 2 minutes after it. Tapping the notice opens **Investments**. |

## What notifications show

Your lock screen is visible to other people. That's why guito's notifications never show amounts, balances, account numbers, or the name of the bank or brokerage. For example: "The connection to one of your banks expires in 7 days." The details appear in the app after you tap the notice.

## At night

Between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. (mainland Portugal time), notifications arrive silently: they don't make a sound or light up the screen, and they wait for you in Notification Center. When notifications come to Android, they do the same: at night they arrive on guito's silent channel.

## Turn off a notice

Turn off the topic's **Phone** switch in **Profile -> Settings -> Notifications**. Turning off a notice on your phone doesn't turn off the email for the same notice, and the other way around. To stop all of guito's notifications on your phone, turn them off in your phone's settings.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I stopped getting notifications after I signed out. Is that normal?">
    Yes. When you sign out, the phone stops receiving that account's notifications. It receives them again when you sign back in, as long as notifications are still allowed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I rarely open the app. Will I still get the notices?">
    Yes. Your phone keeps receiving notices as long as the app is installed and you're signed in, even if you don't open it for months. It stops only if you don't open the app for more than 200 days, and starts again when you open it.
